Katz & Ogush

William B. and Benjamin Ogush organised Katz & Ogush in New York City — a townhouse a block off Central Park. Within two years it grew from a capitalisation under $5,000 into the largest manufacturer of platinum jewellery in America.

By the 1930s the house operated in New York, Paris, and Amsterdam, and made the watch cases for Blancpain — the largest maker of platinum, gold, and diamond cases in the United States, until its acquisition by the Gruen Watch Co. in 1951.

Ira M. Ogush Limited

William's nephew, Ira M. Ogush, established Ira M. Ogush Limited, specialising in gold fine jewellery. The house introduced many novel pieces — faceted bangles, rings, earrings, necklaces, and its celebrated animal pins — sold through premiere retailers including Neiman Marcus.

Ira was a respected figure in the trade, serving as president of the Chicago Jewellers' Association through the 1980s.
